Palestinian people's protection demanded

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has demanded the UN to provide international protection for the Palestinian people as soon as possible.
Abbas made his remarks in a phone conversation with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, during which they discussed recent events and escalations in Jerusalem, according to Palestinian News and Info Agency (WAFA).
He also pointed out Israel's violations in the Occupied Palestinian territories (OPTs), as well as military offensive in multiple Palestinian cities, including Israeli settlers' provocations under the army protection inside Al-Aqsa Mosque and other areas in Jerusalem and the West Bank .
For his part, the UN chief confirmed to contact Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later today to convey the "message" in order to stop the settlers' escalation in the Palestinian lands, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
